The Earth Simulator costs $400,000,000 is considered as the most expensive computer ever built, as estimated by the Japanese government. The budget for the Earth Simulator project was authorized for the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) and the Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation (PNC) in 1997, and NEC Corporation made the winning bid for the Japanese project.

This expensive computer is used for a wide variety of international projects, most of which are related to atmospheric, climate, and oceanographic simulation.

Kudotech Is Again Live After 3 Months of Absence

I've been busy of the past few months due to some reasons I rather not disclose. With this, I almost forgot the existence of this blog... and I was a bit shocked that upon opening my account I notice this blog had been inactive.

Kudotech is not getting much traffic, no doubt about that. But, this is one of the blogs I created when I was a newbie blogger. Not that I am a pro now, but for sentimental purposes, I felt like I should bring back Kudotech.com to life.

Missing Switch User Option in Vista Fix

Symptoms:
You cannot see anymore the Switch User option on the Vista menu.

Resolution / Fix:
1. Click Start (Pearl) then type regedit on Start Search. Under Programs, click regedit. On the User Account Control prompt, click Continue to access Registry Editor.
Note: Backup registry files first before deleting any registry key. Incorrect changes on registry editor may cause serious problem.
2. Locate: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
3. Modify the value of HideFastUserSwitching from 1 to 0. If HideFastUserSwitching option is not available, right click on System, click New then select DWORD (32 bit). Name it as HideFastUserSwitching and make sure the value is 0.
4. Close the registry editor.
5. Restart the computer.

Symptoms:
When trying to download Windows updates, you are getting an error message: "This website is designed to work with Microsoft Windows operating systems only".

Explanation:
This means that your system is sending an incorrect data about the Operating System to the Microsoft Windows Update server.

Resolution / Fix:
1. Click Start then hit Run.
2. To access Registry Editor, type regedit then click OK.
Note: Backup registry files first before deleting any registry key. Incorrect changes on registry editor may cause serious problem.
3. Locate: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent. Right click on User Agent then hit Delete.
4. Locate: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent. Right click on User Agent then hit Delete.
5. Close Registry Editor.
6. Restart the computer.
